PPLS-2000 FILTER
The PPLS-2000 (Patio Ponds Little Sister) is an excellent choice for goldfish and plant ponds up to 2,000 gallons and effective for Koi ponds up to 1,000 gallons. The maximum flow rate for this filter is 1,000 gallons per hour. This filter features a two chamber design to provide both mechanical and biological filtration for your pond. The first chamber is a brush filter that is supplied with pond water from a pump, and through a spray bar which aerates the filter system. The brushes in this chamber are designed to trap solid wastes. Before they reach the biological portion of this filter. The brush chamber should be cleaned regularly (but not more than once a week) to flush accumulated wastes before they decompose. Cleaning the brushes is a simple procedure as follows:
1. Turn off pump
2. Shake brushes to release debris
3. Open drain valve and let accumulated debris drain to waste
4. Close drain valve and turn on pump
5. Repeat step 1 through 4 if necessary to remove all debris
The second chamber is the biological section of the filter. This chamber contains a special filter matting that provides an area for beneficial nitrifying bacteria to colonize and break down harmful wastes such as ammonia and nitrite. This section will require less frequent cleanings with pond water. To clean the biological portion of this filter:
1. Turn off pump
2. Shake filter matting to release debris
3. Open drain valve and allow accumulated debris to drain to waste
4. Close drain valve and turn pump on to resume filter operation.
